Guest guest Report post Posted April 10, 2005 All answers can be gleaned from the SB... Krsna LET Jara to 'defeat' him in battle just like Sri Rama LET Ravana kidnap Sita. Who can know all the goings on in His heart? Theist is totally correct - He does it for His own enjoyment! But if that answer is not enough for you, how about this -- There are alot of things you can argue why Krsna did this or that, but ultimately there was always a reason. So many incidents in the Mahabharata could be averted by Him but He stood by - one reason was that all (bad) Kshatriyas had to make way for the coming Kali Age. In hindsight sometimes it is easy to see. But remember we see with LIMITED vision. Perhaps there was a deep reason, intertwined in their karma, why Bhima was to kill Jarasandha and not Krsna, tho He had many opportunities. With a one swoop he could have annihilated all Kshatriyas if he wanted to but there are always reasons that we will never know or understand. G. Lord Krsna had Bhima fight Jarasanda not for the brute strength that both him and duryodhana had, but for the actual art of warfare, the strategy, the espionage. Bhima and Jara fought to a draw, too, neither would have ever defeated the other, but Krsna let Bhima know the vulnerabilities of Jara, his soft spot that he could be torn in two. This came into play in the main battle of Kuruksetra. A strategy had to be known against the likes of Bhisma, Drona, Duryodhana, Karna, and Krpa. As King Yudhisthira found out after bhagavad gita was spoken, he stopped the war and approached these generals asking how they could be defeated. The answer was that there was NO POSSIBILITY that any of them could be defeated. So strategy and true art of war had to erase the ultimate advantage the kurus had over the Pandavas. Krsna had to break a vow of non-combat to defeat Bhisma, Yudhisthira had to affirm Bhimas lie about aswattama being dead, knowing the family attachement was the only flaw in Drona. Indra had to trade a weapon that would not work to take Karnas invulnerability away. And Bhima had to strike below the waste to defeat Duryodhana. Some may go, auwe, (or tsk,tsk) but Krsna dharma is transcendental to mundane ksatriya dharma. Fair fighting is for losers, and Krsna never loses, he just pretends to lose, and, as Arjuna and Sanjaya saw, everything was turned to ashes anyway even before the first sword was drawn. If there is a crime empire, defeating the king would not end all evil and violence. Even if the king is killed, there will be newer people to claim that empire.
