There are two things that nullify all good qualities. One is poverty. Daridra-doso guna-rasi-nasi. If one is poverty-stricken, all his good qualities become null and void. Similarly, if one becomes too greedy, his good qualifications are lost.

( Srimad-Bhagavatam 7.15.21 purport)

Please put this in context. Do you not see the danger in taking something from a purport and posting it in the way you too often do? Trying to follow bits and pieces without grasping the whole will confuse to the point where NOTHING makes sense. That's certainly not what Krsna or God consciousness is about.

Its made to make you go to the verse and purport.

Thats how it starts. I'd like to see reason Krsnaji posted that particular post without need for this:

I am the spiritual police!

7.15.21

For spiritual advancement, one should be materially satisfied, for if one is not materially satisfied, his greed for material development will result in the frustration of his spiritual advancement.

huh? I remember Bahbhu Dasa say that you have to keep things in context. This is example of not keeping things in context! /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

It would certainly be better if the reason for quoting a particular scripture or posting whatever was given, especially if done only in part leaving the reader to possibly misinterpret it's intended meaning, by taking it out of context.

Though I don't really understand what was meant by the phrase "spiritual police", those who so often appear just to be tossing stuff into the pot that lack any easily understood explanation of the resoning behind them, especially by starting new topics whose titles don't correctly identify the content, sometimes seem to be trying either to simply stir up more controversy or otherwise disrupt somehow.

Perhaps they merely want to bury others under the massive volume of their own proliferation. Either way, the sincerity/sanity of the posters might be seen as somewhat questionable. If one was to post their own understanding/realizations, along with the basis for them on any given topic, possibly productive dialogue/discussion would be more likely to ensue. We must try to assume that's the positive motivation for entering into this assembly of devotees in the first place, however I for one am finding it increasingly difficult to continue giving the benefit of the doubt to a few here, without mentioning any names.

Although there are obviously limits to this form of communication, we can still attempt to be real with each other and respect not only this forum, but other participants as well by considering where we're coming from before actually sharing that with the rest of our group, not to mention countless seeking souls that may be looking to find out what devotees are all about. This also applies to spelling, capitalizing God and proper names, grammar, politeness, attitude, etc. etc.

I trust none will take personal offense to these humble suggestions intended at improving our mutual relationship in the devotional sense, that is service to one-and-all. Input from anyone else they sincerely believe to be constructive is certainly welcome in this regard, guests and/or members alike.

Krsna is a catalyst. Sometimes he presents something that should inspire further discussion. It is then up to others to take the original post and expand on it.

He lists where he found this nugget(verse purport etc.)and at the bottom of his post there is a link to Prabhupada's books where we can go to investigate further and then add to the original.

It's not that Krsna is not doing his part but its we who may be failing to keep up.
