Tomatoes and lycopene

Does anyone else find commercials for medicines wierd?

I remember a recent add that said "Tomatoes contain lycopene, an important such and such... so buy lycopene pills!"

Geez Louise, eat a frickin' tomato!

you obviously dont know Americans /images/graemlins/wink.gif they want instant easy gratification. the implied promise is: instead of preparing and eating 20 tomatoes just pop this little pill. most of the time the stuff in the pill is cheap synthetic version of the natural active substance. the health food industry is not much better. it is all about profit.

The food, supplement and pharmacuetical industries have successfully alienated Americans from the any sense of communion with the land and her products, blessings.

"Just take a pill and all your troubles will just disappear. Your body will be renewed while you sleep and with little or no involvement on your part."

I expect to see lycopene pills sold in the form and color of little tomateos to enhance that "natural" feeling.

Yes. It is appalling. I haven't watched TV for years but due to circumstances I have been in homes & hospital waiting rooms where TV's drone on incessantly. This world is so screwed up. Those Viagra commercials are so pathetic. So many commecials are for anti-depressants too. Thank you Krishna for the devotee who told me about You.
