do buddhists believe in the matrix?

i need to know something about the general beliefs in buddhism.

its a long story why i need to know this and i cant tell you who told me, but buddhism is the "true religion". i was also told told that nothing exists, there is a force telling us that the things surrounding us are there (like in the film "the matrix").

you probably think im mental coming on here.

but do buddhists believe in the matrix?

The people who post in this section are not buddhists, but we can probably answer your questions nonetheless. I believe that buddhists do believe in the matrix, as do we. However, the difference lies in what is beyond the matrix. We believe that the matrix is our conception that we are these bodies and we are the controllers. However, beyond the matrix, we see that everything is controlled by The Supreme Controller, The Supreme Personality of Godhead, Krishna. Buddhists just believe in the void, that there is nothing beyond the matrix. But, how could that be? If we have personalities within the matrix, how could everything outside the matrix be impersonal? There is a personality beyond the matrix, Krishna, or the Supreme Creator of Everything, including the matrix. I hope that this has clarified somethings for you.

No, the Buddhist does not see the Matrix. In the Matrix, the true self, the baby plugged into the Matrix represents the soul. Our soul is deluded by the false temporary world we perceive through our senses and brain. Unfortunately, we accept this maya Matrix world as reality.

 

The true reality however is that as eternal souls we live forever and have a unique relationship with God. There is no God in Buddhism; therefore it is hardly a religion, more a philosophical postulation.

 

God revealed the truth in a conversation known as the Bhagavad-gita. There He notes that those who are unplugged can unplug others and release them from the digital spell, opening up THE WORLD OF THE REAL. Here that verse is translated by Morpheus, himself:<blockquote><center><font color="red">tad viddhi praNipAtena

paripraznena sevayA

upadekSyanti te jJAnaM

jJAninas tattva-darzinaH

</center>

tat--that knowledge of different sacrifices; viddhi--try to understand; praNipAtena--by approaching a spiritual master; paripraznena--by submissive inquiries; sevayA--by the rendering of service; upadekSyanti--they will initiate; te--you; jJAnam--into knowledge; jJAninaH--the self-realized; tattva--of the truth; darzinaH--seers.

Just try to learn the truth by approaching a spiritual master. Inquire from him submissively and render service unto him. The self-realized souls can impart knowledge unto you because they have seen the truth.

 

PURPORT

The path of spiritual realization is undoubtedly difficult. The Lord therefore advises us to approach a bona fide spiritual master in the line of disciplic succession from the Lord Himself. No one can be a bona fide spiritual master without following this principle of disciplic succession. The Lord is the original spiritual master, and a person in the disciplic succession can convey the message of the Lord as it is to his disciple. No one can be spiritually realized by manufacturing his own process, as is the fashion of the foolish pretenders. The BhAgavatam (6.3.19) says, dharmaM tu sAkSAd bhagavat-praNItam: the path of religion is directly enunciated by the Lord. Therefore, mental speculation or dry arguments cannot help lead one to the right path. Nor by independent study of books of knowledge can one progress in spiritual life. One has to approach a bona fide spiritual master to receive the knowledge. Such a spiritual master should be accepted in full surrender, and one should serve the spiritual master like a menial servant, without false prestige. Satisfaction of the self-realized spiritual master is the secret of advancement in spiritual life. Inquiries and submission constitute the proper combination for spiritual understanding. Unless there is submission and service, inquiries from the learned spiritual master will not be effective. One must be able to pass the test of the spiritual master, and when he sees the genuine desire of the disciple, he automatically blesses the disciple with genuine spiritual understanding. In this verse, both blind following and absurd inquiries are condemned. Not only should one hear submissively from the spiritual master, but one must also get a clear understanding from him, in submission and service and inquiries. A bona fide spiritual master is by nature very kind toward the disciple. Therefore when the student is submissive and is always ready to render service, the reciprocation of knowledge and inquiries becomes perfect.</blockquote>

This book, the Bhagavad-gita, the red pill, is without doubt the best book to break free from the Matrix. But having once learned the truth you can never go back. The choice is yours: the delusion of the Matrix or your eternal blissful real self.

 

But there really is no choice, is there?

I live in Sydney, the same city Neo lives in.

 

I see the same tall buildings on the skyline, the same streets filled with people searching for happiness.

 

But unlike Neo, I am not running from anything, or trying to defeat anything. I am searching for something. Someone.

Then we must act in such way that He will seek us. This is the only way. He has complete access to the Matrix and all worlds, and can find us in a flash when He so desires.

 

First we unplug, then we get REAL. He will eventually become intrigued, and find us.

 

So many left to unplug. But the Matrix has them; and they are so enured, so attached, so conditioned to their delusion that they will actually fight to maintain the status quo, even though it is merely a temporary circumstance.

 

Free their minds.

Small problem here. The mind itself. The trouble seems to be that one who wants to recognise reality has to ensure that his mind is made non functional. But the instrument to make the mind non functional is the mind itself. Which is why we all tie ourselves in knots.

For an enlightened person (brahma-bhuta), the medium by which someone understand the environment around oneself is not through mind (intelligence, false ego) but through pure consciousness. When pure consciousness arises, mind vanishes.

Granted by friend - but you have to reach there. It's a bit like saying once on the roof I do not need the ladder, but you have to reach the roof before you can throw away the ladder. Similarly you have to use the mind to transcend the mind.
