Chanting in Mode of Ignorance/Passion

If you are chanting and you are in the mode of ignorance (mainly), then your chanting is more (oh Krishna please help me), then after a while you are elevated to the mode of passion, but then your mind wanders more than when you were in the mode of ignorance, also can you be in the mode of ignorance mixed with passion, or passion mixed with goodness?

Yes you can experience any combination of the modes of nature and in any proportional combination.

The Holy Name is pure goodness personified, nama cintamani rasa vighraha.

Nama Prabhu is never contaminated by the modes of material nature;

just like the sun is never affected by the clouds.

 

So please go on chanting,never give up and eventually after some time the pure name sun will rise in the sky of the heart and burn away the dense fog of the lower modes of passion and ignorance.

It is true, but the ears are very much affected by the modes of nature and if we listen to the Holy name with some expectation of fruitive result or speculative knowledge then it is not considered pure chanting.
