Sriman Suresh Candra

District Administrations Officer,

Guyana

My dear Suresh Candra,

Please accept my blessings. I have received your letter from Guyana dated 16 July, 1972, duly forwarded to me at my London address. Thank you very much for the sentiments expressed therein.

A disciple means one who is always following the orders of the spiritual master.

So I instruct my disciples to refrain from four prohibitions, namely no eating of meat, fish or eggs, no illicit sex life, no taking of intoxication, including tea, coffee, cigarettes, etc., and no gambling.

Besides that my students must chant sixteen rounds of japa-mala of Hare Krsna mantra daily.

So if you are able to follow these principles without fail, then you are as good as my disciple.

And after you have practiced these things for a few months' time, then we can see to your formal initiation.

This chanting of sixteen rounds of japa-mala daily, chanting the full Hare Krsna mantra,

Hare Krsna Hare Krsna Krsna Krsna Hare Hare/Hare Rama Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare ,on each bead 108 times in each round, this process will very quickly purify your existence, and you will come to your rightful spiritual understanding in very short order.

Since you have asked me, this is my advice to you.

You and your family sit down and chant daily some japa and have some kirtana (or chanting Hare Krsna mantra in full __ with kartas and mrdanga.) Besides that you may order our books from the Los Angeles world headquarters, 3764 Watseka Avenue, Los Angeles, 90034, California, __ when you have got our books, then you may hold class all together daily at least one hour and read the Bhagavad-gita, Isopanisad, and other scriptures. You may address your inquiries about the literature in Los Angeles to Sriman Karandhara das Adhikari.

Regarding the visa problem for our devotees coming there, I shall very much appreciate if you can arrange something with the government so they shall have no problem remaining there for some time to do some tangible work in Guyana. I am returning myself to Los Angeles in a few days from London, so you may reply at the Los Angeles address as above.

Hoping this finds you and your family in the best of health.

Your ever well-wisher,

A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami

One sadhu once told me that

If I sincerely pray to Srila Prabhupada

from the core of my heart,

how is it that he would not help me

by finding a bona-fide guru in whom I could take shelter ?

Srila Prabhupada is Sri Guru.

It is his position to guide the sincere jivas to Krishna's lotus feet by making all arrangements in regards to attaining the transcendental necessities,i.e.,a bona-fide guru who can give you Krishna-prema.

the fact is that prabhupada in his books instruct to find the bona fide present guru who your friend is crying and praying for..

the way for prabhupada to be guru now, is to instruct by the shastras and to send a bona fide person to complete the overall picture and give a complete SCHOOL to the practitioner

like bhaktisiddhanta did with us, he's pure, he never die, but he have send prabhupada... not only books

this is the principle, used in all the yugas and planets... also in the spiritual world... krsna reads vedas and go to sandipani muni, he's not happy only to find chatya guru, param guru in the books

Actually this is Caitya-guru's position. Are you sure Srila Prabhupada is so involved?

"Unless one takes the dust of the lotus feet of a pure Vaisnava on one's head, one cannot understand what the Supreme Personality of Godhead is, and unless one knows the Supreme Personality of Godhead, one's life remains imperfect."

See the Real Form of Guru

by----Sri Srimad Gour Govinda Swami

This is guru tattva.

How can you see such a guru with your material vision? As you cannot see Krsna with material vision, you cannot see the guru with material vision. You will only see the outward thing, which is not guru. Only if the guru showers his mercy on you can you be endowed with the vision to see his true form. By the mercy of guru you can see guru, otherwise you cannot see.

This vision is only obtained by crying and crying and crying before Krsna:

"Oh Krsna, I don't know who is your real representative who can deliver You to me cent percent. I want you cent percent, O Krsna."

If you cry before Krsna then Krsna will make an arrangement. He is there in the heart as Paramatma. He will understand, "Now he's crying for Me, so I must help him." He will make an arrangement that you meet a bona fide guru, a genuine representative of Krsna. Otherwise it is not possible. This is the only process.

But in our case we try to measure everything. We measure the Lord. We measure the guru. We try to see the Lord with our vision, with our defective senses. Therefore our acaryas and sastras say that the guru is the seer, drasta, and you should put yourself in the position as the object to be seen, drsta.

It is very difficult to understand this point because almost everyone thinks just in the reverse. You think you are the seer and the Lord or guru are drsta, the objects to be seen. No! It is the complete opposite. The Lord is the seer and the guru is the seer. You are not the seer. You are the object to be seen by guru or seen by the Lord. Do you understand? This is a very deep philosophy.

Hare Krishna

Quote by God:

If you cry before Krsna then Krsna will make an arrangement. He is there in the heart as Paramatma.

You need Greed. (I hope somebody makes a thread about this /images/graemlins/smile.gif /images/graemlins/confused.gif)

Also, if your life gets very difficult, it gives you impetus to cry to Krishna.
