Govindaram 1 Report post Posted May 18, 2003 Hare Krishna to All I was just thinking that since my own chanting is never without offences, could I not perhaps chant my rounds and have a tape on of Srila Prabhupada chanting, softly in the background?.. theist 1 Report post Posted May 18, 2003 This tape is played in temples during japa period everyday. No one who should be without a copy. The mind takes things in in ways beyond the obvious conscious aspect. So why not allow Prabhupada's chanting of the name of Krsna to simply permeate our consciousness? You know how a small child will sit with the father and imitate him in some activity as the child grows and learns to do for itself? I see it like that. I notice that when I am chanting my mind still flys all over the place. But if it goes off of my chanting and is caught by Prabhupada's chanting I am safe. Actually while I am only at the beginning of this practice my chanting is just some shadowy reflection of the Name anyway. By hearing Prabhupada chant I rest assured that the name of Krsna is actually present. Hearing him fuels my attempts. I can't help but feel at the time of death(and beyond) I will be very glad for every time I played this tape of Prabhupada chanting japa.
