The ancient Aryans believed that the world as created by Ahura Mazda was perfect, with no evil. The first man Gayo Maretan had no disease, no illness, no hunger and thirst. Only the good creation of God existed eg., the Dog, Cow and Bull, Horse,Cock, Birds etc. Then ahriman the evil one attacked the world and caused evil to appear, disease and illness and old age, and the animals and the first man started to die.

Night began to fall (before the sun was at the noon position - fixed, so there was no time). The evil brood of animals appeared eg. snakes, insects, and the cat breed.

Now I have proof that cats are evil. I don't particularly care for dogs (I want a mini-cow), but they certainly are friendlier and less snooty than cats /images/graemlins/smile.gif

that philosophy became taught in the western parts of the persian empire and became firmly entrenched in various dogmas under the umbrella name of gnosticism.

the basic beleif of a dualistic universe, with the original god being good, and the succesor god or dominant god,

or in some cases, creator god, of the material world being

evil.

for many of those religions all things in this world are considered of the devil, and they renounce all things related to enjoying, then there are other types of gnosticism, like the cult promulgated by Valentinus(valentines day named after him) which was tantric

and more in the mood of the saivites who try and enjoy

as a form of spiritual practice.

Zoroastrianism is the main source for all the gnostic religions, most of which were sverely persecuted by the

catholic church in the first millenium a.d.

also there are more islamic gnostics, like the druze.

and these ideas became adopted by jewish and christian

theologians.

probably both vedic and zoroastrian(which is a type of

misconstrued vedic religion) followers influenced the ancient mediterrenean world, it's known that there were quite a few yogis in Alexandria,Athens,Jerusalem, and Rome.

It is nonsense to think that cats are evil. A learned person especially someone who reads GITA will not think any animal as evil. It is unfortunately portrayed by people as evil. Poor cats, they are just another jeevan created by Shree Krishna. If alone they can talk human language they will portray the group of humans as evil who call them evil. I would suggest people to skip these nonsense ideas and thoughts on any creatures. Try to look at anything with love and compassion if at all anyone is trying for any spiritual upliftment.

With humble regards

Shyam

I don't know why everyone is so hung up on Aryans- and non- Aryans. As a Tamil, I've heard so much about how we're different from the North Indians, because we're Dravidians and they're Aryans, etc etc.

First of all, I believe that it's a scientific fact that every human being has ancestors from every other race. There are no pure races, so we should really realise that we're more or less all the same.

"First of all, I believe that it's a scientific fact that every human being has ancestors from every other race."

Prove it.

There are millions of pure-aryans in india even though there have been many invasions into india from outside.

the word arya is used in vedic scriptures to describe those who follow sanatana dharma, correct?

the only people following sanatana-dharma at the time the vedic scriptures were composed were inhabitants of bharat or indo-aryans(pure-aryans). so actually arya does refer to a race despite the propaganda people are using to disassociate the word arya from race.

cheers.

what kind of logic is that ?

you state that aryan refers to religious beliefs,

then insist that those who hold that belief

are aryans and therefore aryan refers to race.

that is not logical, a race is a bodily type,a religion

is a mindset, they are exclusive of each other.

i simply said that arya refers to a race not because they follow sanatana-dharma but the vedic scriptures are referring to inhabitants of bharat as arya and this is because only they at that time follow sanatana-dharma and therefore is referring to a race.

Also in Bhagavatam Vyasadev has listed several races of people using sanskrit words such as mleccha or yavana, etc... obviously these are races. similarly arya is referring to an ancient race in vedic scriptures.

arya refers to farmer, an aryan was someone who was attached

to the land, as opposed to a wanderer or migrant people,

an aryan meant someone who was "civilized" as opposed

to people who were not farmers ,bedouins and nomadic

peoples.

the term was coined by german professor Max Muller c.mid 1800's,

who tried to stop the use of aryan as a racial designation,

insisting that is was a cultural designation.

an aryan is not a race, anymore then a jew is a race,

or an indian is a race, they are all non racial terms,

race has never been considered part of an aryan

designation in any vedic scripture, that did not

happen until the 1800's when those who read Mullers

descriptions of the aryans, mistook them for a specific

race or sub race, which he vigorously denied.

the term aryan maybe was used, but the people of ancient

Bharata called themselves by various terms, yadavas, kauravas, and so on.

Muller coined the term aryan as a catc all for the people

who used the vedas as scripture.
