Guest guest Report post Posted November 10, 2002 YELLOW PAGES RULE Yellow Pages Rule is a classification and category rule that needs urgently to be implemented in forums, chat and meetings. This will make the job of discussing much easier and if a discussion posts and threads are without direction, repetition, energy and time wasting then the Yellow Pages Rule needs to invoked. We need this very urgently in movement because we have a huge volume of Srila Prabhupada's books and thus a management discussion system is needed. There is a lot of aparadha and anarchy in discussions and years have gone wasted, time that we could have all spent in a better way. Essentially the Yellow Pages Rule is basically like a phonebook with categories and classification of products and services. So for example if we need any product or service like a phone or photographer then we turn to the appropriate section in the Yellow Pages to look up a provider and get in contact. In the movement's discussions we are facing a problem we have one category being mixed with another category, so in our above example, we are discussing photographic services bit then on the same thread of a discussion another person is discussing phones. We would all agree that this is out of context. A movement related topic that is based on Srila Prabhupada's order when he is not physically present category is getting confused with another party opposing this with another category to do with a Successor to Srila Prabhupada category. This is meaningless. Another example is discussing May 28 1977 Conversation category and this becoming confused when another party opposes this in the same topic through Srila Prabhupada can choose to vapu appear again category. Again this is meaningless when the latter category can be joined as a sub-category in the topic of May 28 1977 Conversation category. So when you look under photographic services, you sub-categories/services like color, black and white, landscape, portrait, weddings, commercial services being mentioned in some of the classifieds but they do not necessarily have a separate category. So the point is how can phone products discussion have photographic services included in the same discussion. Basically off-topics are being used in discussions to keep a discussion static.
