Tommertron 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2002 Hi, I'm a proofreader working for a transcription company, and am currently working on a tape documenting the Vishwa Hindu Parishad party in India, specifically in Gujurat. As part of my job, everything must be spelled accurately. What I have not been able to find the spelling of is a ceremony that the VHP performed, which involved giving new members ceremonial knives, which I believe sounded like "Trishul" or "Drishul". There are 3 separate s letters in SanskRt: palatal, cerebral, dental For internet, due to limited keyboard, we agree to use z S s respectively. Ergo, in cyberspace Trizul = Trishul = Trisul, all pronounced as/with palatal sibilant sh. For printing u can use s accent à droit, s dotted below and dental s unaccented. Tarun 6 Report post Posted July 24, 2002 btw - Accent à droit means á, not à. This European keyboard can't cut it. Use this accent mark above á above s' to print palatal s.
