In India, devotional drinking with hopes of miracles

July 9, 2001 Posted: 2:55 PM EDT (1855 GMT)

MAJITHA, India -- With the childless hoping for babies, the unemployed hoping for jobs and the ailing hoping for cures, thousands attended a three-day religious festival in India.

They left behind barriers of caste and religion and brought bottles, bags or buckets of alcohol to offer at the shrine of a Muslim holy man, Baba Rode Shah, known for performing miracles.

Residue of the thousands of of gallons of alcoholic offerings is distributed among the followers.

Yes this is one way for them to forget not just their barriers but everything else too.

No telling what sort of miracles you would see after all that residue.

I'm sure their are many wittnesses of this mystics miracles maybe he could apply for sainthood.
