Gauracandra 1 Report post Posted January 23, 2002 I received some time back a very handsome set of tapes with the recording of the Bhagavad Gita. On the packaging it states: "Ancient chants in classical melodies & sublime wisdom that transport you to another world and dimension" "Dedicated to His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada (Founder-acharya of ISKCON) who tirelessly presented the timeless wisdom of the Gita on an unprecedented scale all over the world". The sanskrit recitation is so expert and is done by Sri Vidyabhushana. I have heard that he is a Madhva scholar who has great respect for Srila Prabhupada and so became involved in the project. Anyways, if you come across it, by all means pick up a copy for yourself. Gauracandra
Tarun 6 Report post Posted January 26, 2002 Gauraji: inquiry - How does he pronounce Gita's first 2 words: dharmaksetre kuruksetre or dharmaXetre kuruXetre? PrabhupAd, ZrIdhardev & all Bengalis pronounced ks as x. By x I mean guturral: further back in throat than k of KRSNa or g of Govinda. Similar to our ch transcriptions for Hebrew & Greek: Baruch, la chaim, Chanukkah... chiropractor, psychology, chronology...
