leyh 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2002 "There are 8,400,000 species of life. Out of that, eight million species are other than human being, and 400,000 species human being. Out of that, civilized persons are very few. And all the problems are in the civilized, so-called civilized population." (His Divine Grace A.C Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada,Conversation with Journalists,August 18,1971,London) What did Srila Prabhupada mean by there being "400,000 species human being"?What do the Vedas say about this? Tarun 6 Report post Posted February 26, 2002 ZrIpAd BhaktisvarUp DAmodar Mhrj gave one explanation in: "Scientific Basis for KRSNa Conciousness" Therein ZBSDM states: "Species r divided according to consciousness, (not reproductive pairs = bodies)." In one place PrabhupAd declares: "Only a few dozen human species can be found here on this planet, not all 400k." On a similar note, ZrIla Bs Sarasvati ThAkur proclaimed: "We should avoid horned species by at least 100 cubits."
