Srimad Bhagavatam Versions

From the book, Srimad Bhagavatam, I`ve

learned that the Absolute Substance or

Truth is Krishna, the source of all

created manifestations, Who have expanded

Himself in unlimited forms of energies which

have emanated from His transcendetal body.

These unlimited forms are the living

entities whom in one way or the other are

related to Him, like the biological father

whose sons and daughters are related to

him because they possess his hereditary

traits or genes.

Srimad Bhagavatam stresses explicitly upon

the reader the concept of simultaneous

oneness and difference( acintya bheda-bheda-

tattva) that describes Krishna as the

origin of all creations. Although He is

one with His creations, still, He is all-

together different from them. That in subs-

tance, the Lord`s relatives are always

subordinate to Him no matter how great the

power the living entities have in their

possessions.

If by chance, through the mercy of Krishna`s

pure devotee, they understand this concept

of simultaneous oneness and difference bet-

ween Krishna and His expansions, they

attain without delay freedom from the

miseries of life, injuries inflicted by the

body and mind, by other living entities

and by acts of nature( Teachings of Lord

Chaitanya ).

Unfortunately, many of us are not interested

in patiently hearing Srimad Bhagavatam, a

very simple act but hard to implement.

Lord Chaitanya therefore advises His devotee

taking up the course in Bhakti-yoga to

always read Srimad Bhagavatam and should try

to understand each and every verse laid out

in the book, compiled and written by Lord

Vyasadeva. This is the way by which one can

understand the Vedanta-sutras( Isopanisads,

Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu, etc.)

On the other hand, Lord Chaitanya advises

the devotee to always chant the Hare Krishna

maha-mantra: Hare Krishna Hare Krishna

Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare

Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare. And in so doing,

according to the Lord, " You will easily

get liberation, eligible to achieve the

highest goal of life, love of Godhead." Or

more aptly put, Krishna Consciousness.

As long as a person chants "hare krishna" or reads the bhagavatham, with liberation as the goal on mind, it is not going to work. And if there is no goal, then one will not bother to chant or read.

Simply putting it, as long as you desire liberation, you will not get it.

Are you ready to give up the goal ? Until then, nothing will happen.

I have no desire except to work for Krishna

by starting where A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami

has left, translating his books to their

local versions that could be understood by

the "tao" or common man who wish sincerely

to go back home, back to Krishna`s fold.

Melvin:

That is a most noble undertaking, there are hundreds of other languages to translate them to. Organize a team and try bit by bit.

Roam the amazon for experts in the local dialects, climb mountains in western Nepal where no outsider has ever gone; jump into the outter pit of piggmies; scale the alps for the old time dialects and isolated souls of the world.. be Johnny Krisha-Nama Seed... that all may "chant & Be Happy !!!"

Hari Hari Bol !!!!

Hi Melvin,

There is nothing unique about Krishna' fold, or anyone else's. In the Gita. Krishna says, "In all paths, men walk in my path". Any person who is interested, will find one way or the other.

Also Krishna's message is to enquire into the truth, and strive to know the self.

Krishna never told people to spread his message around. That is like straying away.

Spreading messages, translating books etc,is for organisations, trying to market their path as the best path. However, all paths are the same.

Sorry to disillusion you. Why don't you sit back, and reflect on the Gita once again ?

It`s alright, my dear Prabhu, to tell me

these things. In fact, I`m very much elated

if we could talk more about Krishna and

His pastimes. About the issue on books and

their translations, I like Prabhupada

Swami`s program better than anybody else,

although many have claimed that the programs

of other guru`s are much better than Swa-

mi`s. But I love Prabhupad Swami. Because

without his books I wouldn`t be here now

posting you this message and wouldn`t have

known that you exist in my world. We have

met before and today, we have met again, not

as enemies, but as friends. I owe Prabhu-

pad Swami`s this chance of meeting you.

All glories to Lord Chaitanya`s sankirtana

movement organized by the Lord Himself as

Krishna conciousness.
