stuartorwell
I am not knowledgable in this, I'm trying to learn. Suppose I knew I had a deity around me at times, but felt attracted to many, besides learning, meditating and reading, is there some method to choosing a deity. Maybe the question is too simple...............
Sephiroth
Know your own Nature first, then choose one who is suitable by own Nature.
Guest guest
It would be interesting to expand on this. I am specifically interested in the notion of choosing a deity, without getting too heavy in the semantics. I believe the philosophy/religion was structured for all levels of intellect and knowledge, therefore maybe there is someone who knows more about this.......... Sephiroth
I am specifically interested in the notion of choosing a deity, without getting too heavy in the semantics. I believe the philosophy/religion was structured for all levels of intellect and knowledge, therefore maybe there is someone who knows more about this.......... If you wish to choose a diety just for the philosophy value, you will not go anywhere. You choose wrong one or inappropriate one, it will cause you to astray even further than the Truth and won't promote anything. Spiritualism IS Self-Discipline. Take Shiva and Shakti relationship. Shiva is Control and Shakti is Power. If you choose Shiva, you must find Power (Shakti) thus take up proper diet, Yoga, etc. If you choose Shakti, power will be given to you but you must cultivate control (Mind Control over the body, meditation, Yoga etc). Either way, things will go badly IF you don't do it properly. Having a lot of Control and seeking Power, you may go astray and lead to a rigged and stiff lifestyle. Having a lot of power (which you have no use for) and no control will make the power consume you like fire. So becareful what you choose. Choosing wrong path will lead you astray. krishnadasa
Thats a good answer , that in a way proves the balance that has to be maintained b/w material and spiritual lives. hari bol
Sephiroth
Thats a good answer , that in a way proves the balance that has to be maintained b/w material and spiritual lives. That is why I said Spiritualism is Self-Discipline. Life without Spiritualism is Materialistic Life - it will lead you astray and toward suffering. Christians are under going this - doing all sort of self-indulgement and sinful actions in name of Freedom. Spiritualism without Purpose in Life is Rigid and Stiff. Muslims making this mistake - focusing in After-life alone without living a proper life. Goal of Living is to Live a proper life while maintaining the goal in Spiritualism. Thus - Balance.
