Guest guest Report post Posted November 13, 2005 Again general belief system is that females do not participate in final rites. This is across all Hindus sects. If a family or somebody doesn't have a male child, then nephew (son of brothers/cousins) can carry out final rites. However, there has been exceptions based on extreme situations when there is no male family member to carry out final rites or female surviving member was adamant due to any reason.
