Fate? or Karma?

if you fall in river, and do nothing, the future will be your fate.

even though the river is flowing,

you still have choice to conrol - swim - any which way you want. when you make an effort to swim in a perticular direction, or call for help, then it is karma. you reap the benefit of it depending upon its spiritual quality, e.g. a helicopter may come and rescue you. that is like grace of god or guru.

think of river as samsaar.

the subject has been discussed here in the past.

Hari OM

You have rights over Karma, ie., you can choose what Karma you want to do "NOW" but no rights over its result, this is interperted as Fate, i don't know what is the vedic statement that deals with fate (with my limited knowledge i dont think any such thing exists)

The situtation you now face depends on different factors:

All your past Karma until this moment (some may be dominant some may be dormant), say for eg., if you had studied hard and got good marks you might get a good job now else you may not get.

Also other factors like Plantery positions, Vasthu, elders blessings, etc., come into picture (remember Kandharis blessings for duryodhna, it almost changed the Mahabharata war)

These forces are like Vectors in maths, each one acts with different level and direction (supporting/opposing etc.,) results are defined by the most dominant force, so if you have a favourable plantery position you may get very good results even if your effort is minimum and vice-versa.

Other than all this Gita says to raise above karma-results etc., and enter into Nishkama Karma and don't worry whatever happens.
