what does really happens during solar/lunar Eclipse according to hindu tradition and not according to science pls explain.

why do hindus close down temples during this period???

there are some routine things Like eating,sleeping etc not to be done during this period ???

in the vedic literature it is not considered an auspicius event. so, the litrature prescribes acts to clean the environment in the house, within the body, mind, intelligence, and do austerity, sadhana, japa, etc.

all the trash, any dirty or broken things, old earthern plate on which indian tortias are cooked, old pans with dints and blak due to carbon from smoke stuck over months, etc. are thrown out. room floors and some thigns are washed/cleaned. people fast or eat light foods that are easy to digest. prayers and chantings are done individually, not in groups.

 

no socal auspicius activity is begun on that day.

temples however continue doing their aartis as usual.
