well i think the time has come that we have to act together to protect our religion. the main problem is that we are not united, we should start telling people about the importance of hinduism, all evil sources from various countries have entered hindustan and it is very clear in our day to day life we forget to perform our duties.

please let us act together, lets stop talking and do it.

I completely agree. For some reason it is only Hindus that seem to be apologetic about their beliefs. You don't see people of other religions collectively being so ignorant about their faith. It is high time many 'so called' Hindus educated themselves about their religion to counter argue any questions non-Hindus ask.

I am a Hindu girl born and brought up in the UK. Like many others I haven't blindly accepted all that I was told about my religion. I have gone out to seek answers to my questions.

My advice to all of you is to do the same. Keep discussions like this flourishing and stay united!

I work in a call center, I see lot of Girls started Smoking and Drinking, more than boys. They have adopted the western culture, it is very difficult to change at this stage. We have to go by Social culture now rather than religious cultures.

I am a Hindu girl living in the West. I was born here and I was brought up here. I do not smoke, I do not drink, I do not eat meat and I am well-informed about my religion. If everyone has a generalist view like yours we can just kiss our religion goodbye. The problem is that too many people think the way that you do. Its just like thinking what difference can one person make. It usually only takes one person to reform an ideology, just depends on who is listening. Stop being complacent, stop sitting back and claiming a diminished responsibility for what is going on and actively do something about it. Start in your own homes. Every religion has to bear the effects of 'sinful' people - its up to you to be better people and encourage those around you to do the same. Its NOT too late...it's just another challenge faced by human-kind.

Stop talking and start protecting our religion? How do you propose we go about doing it? Please enlighten us.

Can you speak other things than them? You are simply repeating what your ancestors said & did. Can you say sth. else & do better than them? Does a healthy person fear pathogens? Success exists in wise minds.

If your born and brought up in the uk how can you possibly say 'For some reason it is only Hindus that seem to be apologetic about their beliefs'? Im a British man living in Britain, not just my place of residence, but my homeland. Think how it is for us. Were taught not to say were proud of our culture or heritage. Christ in some parts of Britain they cancel Christmas!

I agree with that statement in that I know that Christians in Britain take circularism to a different level altogether in the guise of political correctness. What I was referring to was Hindus in India as well as other parts of the world. I know Hindus in the UK, Europe, America, Canada as well as India and it's the same everywhere. In England other ethic minorities are always campaigning for so-called equality. These are demands made by Muslim and Sikh communities (among others) but never Hindus. Name me an incident where Hindus have not bent over backwards to accommodate and accept other religions (so-called Hindu fundamentalism is also blown out of proportion - the Western world should fist fully understand the issues surrounding a country and its citizens before passing judgement). I understand what you are saying, and whereas this is true for Christians in the UK it is universal for Hindus worldwide. Hindus have never forced mass conversions on people, they don't send people door-to-door or preach in public places. The UK is not representative of the Christian (or Hindu) community at large.

ok i see your point. I think in Britain Hindus would do well to stand up for themselves better against the Muslims as I believe there is a problem regarding islamic aggression towards them. However generaly speaking I dont think Hindus experience too many problems in the uk and most people respect them. I would say however you should try to make yourselves better known as Hindus or Indians and not Asians.

Sadly or Gladly Hinduism is not a compact religion like Islam, Christianity or even Budhism. The very word Hinduism is a misnomer created by British rulers to distinguish themselves from the local populace. In fact it is the Sanatan Dharma which is not a religion but the very fact/truth of life. Read the definition of Hinduism in the Time Almanac 2005 as the most liberal and syncretic religion in the world. It is like an ocean where people in spite of practicing different faiths, Gods/Godesses, Gurus come like rivers and still be a Hindu. An ocean never loses its identity. That's the reason why Hindus can never come togather and be a fanatic like other religions.

As a Hindu I can keep pic of Jesus, Nanak, Buddha go to a church, dargah and still be a Hindu.

A religon which encompasses all living being, which defines God as the sum total of all positive 'Jivas' energy in a given time on this earth in all its being. It doesn't even distinguishes between humans and animals, probably only philosophy where almost every animal is closely linked to Gods and which advocates vegetarianism.

India was a vedic land where th Sanatan Dharma flowed. Unfortunately a parallel can be drawn between the condition of the river Ganga and India. Just like Ganga today is so unpure and polluted similarly the Sanatan Dharma has been engulfed by the overwhelming TAMAS (darkness) due to foreign influences, twisting of its principles, secular propoganda, colonialisation and the most important of all denigration of the all encompassing Sanatan Dharma by the Hindus themselevs. We have forgotten and are in a state of "Vismriti' and don't even know our true self.

What it is that inspite of thousands of years of holocaust, genocide, murders, plunders, attacks, conversions, Hinduism still survive as a vibrant and pulsating reliogion or all encompassing Sanatan Dharma.

Hindus don't even believe that Gods like Krishna and Rama truly came to India. They were the only human manifestations of Narayan or God Himself. We are told that these are part of mythology.

Yes , so long the man didn't fly it was a myth, so long we didn't use Cell phones it was a myth, so long we didn't use internet it was a myth. Now we know that these are real and true. But somebady has to disover them...and bring them in a practcal state...

Unfortunately there may never be a Hindu orthodox country or even the Hidnu society may never ever come togather and become a compact and aggresive group like some of the other religions. But there is not need to get disheartened as the Sanatan Dharma can never die, it can never disappear from the face of the earth because all empassing Sanatan Dharma is the soul of the mother earth and soul never dies...we know from Bhagawat Gita.

Sri Aurobindo said long back "“India of the ages is not dead nor has she spoken her last creative word; she lives and has still something to do for herself and the human peoples. And that which must seek now to awake is not an anglicised oriental people, docile pupil of the West and doomed to repeat the cycle of the occident's success and failure, but still the ancient immemorable Shakti recovering her deepest self, lifting her head higher towards the supreme source of light and strength and turning to discover the complete meaning and a vaster form of her Dharma.”
