I am having some difficulty understanding by what is meant by the conflict within each human being who is in search for nirvana/salvation. I have read only small write-ups in some books at the library and wondered if anyone would lend me a hand in understanding. maadhav Posted February 7, 2005 Report Share Posted February 7, 2005 those people who want to only like animals (eaging, sleeping, mating, and defending) have no conflict. they do not go to god. those who want to go to god need to control their desires of sense enjoyement, and lust, anger, and greed. so, one who is moving towards god constatnly struggles to overcome these tendencies. Guest guest Posted February 7, 2005 Report Share Posted February 7, 2005 From what I gather, one should slay all desires; cease in all unsage-like activities; remain focused upon atman through meditation; strive to focus the divine and not get entangled in the lower self (ego). Still the mind, you'll be on the way to the Atman. You've heard of the 2 birds parable? 2 birds sitting on a tree, one eats while the other watches.
