Adi Shankarar Belongs too ... ?

Adi shankarar, who is the Founder of Sankara Math, Tamilnadu, born on 8.A.D., at kaaladi in Kerela, was said to be as Brahmin, but recently, i read a book says, "he belongs to Vishvakarma", if it so, why it is early said,that he is a Brahmin?

They are known as purusha brahmins who born from virad purusha's face all other brahmins are not born from purusha's face check the purana and vedas
