Bhaktaneal
Hari bol PAMHO! AGTSP! I have been reading about Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati's amazing pastime's in "A Ray of Vishnu" by Rupa Vilasa Das It describes that in 1905, at the age of 31, He began His great vow of chanting 3 lakhs (192 rounds) per day. As well, He observed Caturmasya. (p.27) I was wondering where the guidelines for Caturmasya come from? when did the practice start and why? Forgive my ignorance. maadhav
<< where the guidelines for Caturmasya come from? when did the practice start and why? >> the four months in india is monsoon, heavy rains, and floods. this makes travel difficult/impossible therefore since the begining, the vedic people stay home or in a holy place for these four months each year, and just spend time in religious activites. it is a vedic tradition.
