SuBrahaman
Dear All, What is the best possible explanation for Pretatmas or Ghosts? Why is it believed that they gain energy and become active and powerful on no moon day ( Amaavasya) Kindly explain Thanks SuBrahman
maadhav
gohsts are the jivas in limbo state after they quit a body. they have acute deirires but cannot get a body to take a birth. so they try to possess weaker jivas in a body to satisfy their desires. when a jiva is a devotee of hanuman or krishna, then no ghost can posseess that jiva. a ghost can try to scare any person, but if that person just remembers hanuman or krishna at that time, then the ghost would immediately disappear. a krishna devotee usually feels pity on a ghost rather than getting afraid of him. the example of gokarna in bhagaatan is proof of this. on amavasya, the ghost do not get stronger, but most jivas get weaker some what. this makes the goshts take the oppertunity. all ghosts are not bad guys, but most are. hope this helps. SuBrahaman
Hi maadhav, Thanks very much for the response.. "on amavasya, the ghost do not get stronger, but most jivas get weaker some what. this makes the goshts take the oppertunity" I am convinced with your above answer. Thanks But i am somewhat unclear about what jivas turn to Ghosts? Are you saying that JIVA or AATMA after quiting the body will have different sates based on some parameters/conditions, and one such state is Ghost? If yes, could you tell me what are different state the AATMA goes through after departing from a body ? and why?.. Like i am curious to understand what is it because of which a soul turns in to a ghost and how long will it remain as a ghost and will it be given a chance for Salvation ( moksha) at all ? or how is it? Kindly explain .. Thanks again for the response SuBrahman
ranjanbhandari
Hi!, Atma never becomes pretatma...Atma is spark of the that divine fire. If any person dies with unfulfilled desires, his desires (vasana) will be become pretatma...that is just his desire takes a form like air. But the concept of pretatma may not be true. no logical explanation can be given. I AM NON-BELIEVER in these pretatma, i believe in my atma..child of GOD,spark of the infinite fire.If your true nature itself is powerful..how anything can makr you weak..?Impossible!!. maadhav
<< Are you saying that JIVA or AATMA after quiting the body will have different sates based on some parameters/conditions, and one such state is Ghost? >> aatma is within jiva. aatma alwasy is in sat chit ananda rupa. but jiva suffers because of the desires it holds. << what is it because of which a soul turns in to a ghost >> because of its acure desires, and becaue it cannot get, becaue of some karma, a new body to take birth in. << and how long will it remain as a ghost >> till it comes in contact with a saint, or it gives up the desires it holds, or till it suffered enough due to its bad karma. << will it be given a chance for Salvation ( moksha) at all ? >> sure. moksha is fore each jiva, sooner or lter. << how is it? >> because krishna loves all souls/jivas. he is for every one. it is the jivas who turn away from Him now and then, not He, never. who can give such a solid guarantee like this: kaunteya pratijAni hi na me bhaktah praNashyati sooner or later each jiva turns to Him. Guest guest
Hi, Do ghosts do all the activities which human beings do (eating, drinking, mating, production etc.) ? Jyotsana
maadhav
no, not in material sense. they do not have a material body. however they can make a show as if they are real by taking control of a weak mind and iagination of some one. thus while one can see a ghost, another cannot at the same time and place. they try to satisfy their acute desires by taking over the control of a weak jiva over the jiva's body, and use the possed body for their sense gratification. this is like some one forcibly taking control of your home (against your will) and enjoying what ever they can find there. Guest guest
I am still confused because what we experience is different. One of our relatives is being exorcised by few ghosts. We have experienced all types of smells in his room (urine, stools etc.), especially when someone shouts at ghosts or make noise to scare ghosts away. Nothing is seen but only ghosts voice and smell. Even ghosts admit about it when they talk.
