Guest guest
Gokul , Nice to have you back. Well Sorry to hear that you were discriminated. I too had this experience with madhvas. Let me share some of my experiences with you. 1. When I was 24 visited Kanchi Shankara Mutt, we went very close to the Maha Periyava ( Shri Chandrashekarendra Saraswati). He was blessing his devotees without discrimination. 2. And as a 5 year old kid, my father took me to have Darshan of Maha Periyava, and maha Periyava gave me an apple and said " Kozhande, Nanna Padi" ( Child , Study well). Well I consider that fruit as a prasadam and god himself has given it. 3. And when I was 29, and was celebrating my second wedding day, me and my wife. I am a traditional type ( lucky to have a wife with the same devotion towards god). We were in Sringeri Saradha Peetam, Sringeri Shankaracharya was blessing everybody, my wife and me togather fell to his divine feet, my wife told the swamiji, it was our wedding anniversary and we came to seek his blessings. Swamiji was overjoyed , and he blessed us as a couple. It was amazing to see that in spite of meeting thousands of devotees, he was smiling and blessing everybody. 4. That noon We had a good lunch in the AnnaDhanam, and it was equal for everybody. The guy who was eating next to me was not a brahmin( a tourist car driver), and he was praising the swamiji like anything. 5. Ditto in Dhrma Stala. 6. In Udipi there is a seperate AnnaDhanam for Brahmins. Gokul, ususally, I do not see any discrimination in Smartha temples and mutts. If you go to Tiruvannamalai, irrespective of you are a Brahmin or a non brahmin, you can go close to the god ( not in the Garba Graha). My Grandma is from that place, and the gurukkals know my father very well. So they allow us to have darshan for more time. Thats the maximum of discrimination I have ever seen. And If I go to temple with my grand father ( a famous Shastri), my grandfather is allowed inside the Sanctum ( as he is a Vaidika, and a Shastri) but not me. I stay outside. So there are certain rituals, that are followed. So let us not feel bad or question about that. There should be some reason behind all this. Our elders have lot of experience. So let us respect the rules they have set for us. Cheers, Periya Kurangu
