Has anyone tried to rebuilt vimanas ?

I was wondering that if the vedic scientists were able to build vimanas are varoius other scientific inventions, how come they always used horse drawn chariots into war....how come they didn't have any kiind of automobile.

And if kirhsna stood for ahimsa..how come he allowed people to use horses in battle where they might have gotten severely injured due to no fault of their own.
