Guest guest
What is the stance of the Hare Krishna movement on playing video games, and listening to relatively recent music genres (eg. heavy metal, Western 'pop')? Thank you.
Guest guest
these things are useless for going back to godhead, so they should have to be avoided... but we are not perfect, if you chant hare krishna and you have some gratification by mysic and games who can blame you? the most important thing is to avoid to make some speculation to justify our bad habits with devotion and scriptures.. if one's sincere and he knows that simply he wants to gratificate a little there's nothing very bad another thing is that everyone has to take shelter in a pure vaishnava spiritual master and ask to him, who knows exactly our heart, personal advices i do not know what's your devotional level, if you were a sannyasi and you were listening to HM or playing computer games it would be an immense problem.. if you are simply a young boy there's no problem.. chanting hare krishna will wipe soon away all improper behaviours

maadhav
such music cannot help progress spiritually. one who has developed a taste for india's classical music, would not be able to stand such wester music even for a minute. if some one is addicted to such western music, still it would be bettter for him/her if he/she sings/composes devotional songs or chants in such music. but that is a combintion like a combinatin of rose frgrance and onion or fish. Guest guest
"one who has developed a taste for india's classical music" indian classical music is material, mundane, like western music. Devotional songs are ok in any kind of music, but if there's not devotion, mantras, the music is all the same
