Guest guest
I hope this is not too trivial a question for this forum. My fiance and I are very close to our wedding date, and have also recently bought a home. We would like to display a blessing in our house to remind us of the important things in life. We are very new to the Hindu religion and are overwhelmed by the beauty of the blessings we have come across so far. Is there a traditional blessing used to celebrate the beginning of a combined life, or new home? Thank you for any help you can give. Have a wonderful day, -A

Guest guest
In India they will do a Ganapathi Homam ( to remove all obstacles in life) and Sudharshan Homam, Navagrah Homam and Chandi Homam. All these are performed to please the gods and there are some offerings made to the gods thru the holy fire as a way of thanks giving for all the blessings they have showered upon us. They will also offer some prayers to the Vaasthu purush of the house for the well being of the inmates. This is called GrahaPravesh or a house warming ceremony. They will also make a cow enter the home first as it is believed that Cow is a bestover of riches and Goddess Lakshmi resides in the cow. Cow is called KhamaDhenu ( the giver of all material riches). Doing this ceremony in India will not be a big deal, but if you are living in a different country, it may be difficult. Probably, you can pray ganeshji, for his blessings to remove all obstacles, pray any other gods, and finally conclude with praying hanumanji for all successes in life
