I am reading a Chinese Sutras translated from the zaaduulakarNaavadaana, the names of 28 nakSatras were translated into Chinese by thier Sanskrit meaning. the puurvaaSaaDhaa and uttaraaSaaDhaa translated into "former fish" and "northern fish".

I searched `aSaaDha' in `Apte Dic' and got the following:

meanings of "aSaaDha" [1]

a.{a-stem}

1.not to be overcome;

2.born under the constellation aaSaaDha

meanings of "aSaaDha" [2]

m.{a-stem}

1.the month aaSaaDha commencing with the sun's entrance into Gemini;

2.a staff made of the wood of palaaza, carried by a religious student or ascetic;

3.name of the malaya mountain

meanings of "aSaaDha" [3]

f.{a-stem}

1.name of a constellation

I can't understand why the word was translated into 'fish', can someone tell me if the word do have some relationship with 'fish'?

Thank you.
