Lost my job on 6 Dec 2007, and could not get another one in my field of experience till today despite my best efforts.

Your condition will improve by the end of the year 2014. You may have a change of place and may get a job related to academic, literary, artistc side or something related to earth and water like waterworks engineering etc...However guard your mental health carefully for some more years because you will have a significant improvement only after 4 years from now.
