Sri Adi Sankara's instruction to all of us in His celebrated Bhaja Govindam is:

“Geyam Gita Nama Sahasram Dhyeyam Sreepathi Roopam Ajasram”

Sri Vishnu Sahasranama was given as instruction to Sri Dharmaputra by Sri Bheeshma in presence of Sri Krishna, Sage Vyasa and others. The Lord, Sri Krishna, told Sri Bheeshma that this instruction of 1000 names of the Lord will stay eternal in this world, just like the Vedas.

Reciting Sri Vishnu Sahasranamam bestows immense benefits and this can be easily verified by personal experience. As told by Sri Bheeshma to Sri Yudhishtira, if you want to get the most benefits with the least effort, then you must recite Sri Vishnu Sahasranamam.
