Surrender attachment to beauty

Dear Bruce and All:

Would you be so kind to express further on what is meant by surrender my

attachment to beauty. My brain cannot wrap itself around this. Detach from the

object which encapulates the beauty, or to detach from the beauty itself? The

beauty is the Divine. How does one detach from something that is One or All? Or

how does one know the difference between being attached to beauty or just being

of the beauty. I experience the Divine in things other than that which is

" pretty " .

Thank you for any " clarification " .

Love:

~Danielle

Hi Danielle,

The aspect of beauty you are referring is that perceived through 5 senses. This

beauty  is not permanent. All that exsists in the world is matter and energy we

are attracted to. They are bunch of different permutation and combination of

electrons and protons.Electrons are nothing but electric charged particles. In

short what we are attracted to is electrons and protons.I may have refer ed

sometime back that a deer meets it's death as he is attracted to sound of

flute,an elephant by rubbing his body or head against a pine tree, moth is

attracted by light, fish by taste of the bait, bee by the smell of flowers. These

sensuous objects are fatal than poison of a snake. These sensuous objects can

kill us spiritually.By getting attracted through only one sense ie

sight, sound, touch, taste, etc animals meet death. We use all 5 senses to get

attracted to so called beauty.

As this is transitory, going to be destroyed by time we should not seek

pleasure from these. The beauty of divine / Shiva /Shakti/ supreme soul or our

soul is permanent. We should be attracted to the divine and not to objects of

senses.

This is what Bruce may have to say regarding detachment  to beauty., or

surrender to attachment of beauty.................shrikant

Hmm...I understand the non attachment to objects, but it is the divine within

the object that I experience; it is the radiance, the brilliance and light that

shines upon the dew drop, or the voice of the sacred within the breeze. There is

not a division in such. Is that not the splendor of being human and being

connected with this earth; to experience that Divine within, as well as without?

I feel strongly that I am attracted to the Divine; but too I do love the beauty

before me. I feel this beauty is an extension of the Divine, is it not?? Isn't

that part of the balance?

It makes me think of a bumper sticker I read once... " If god wanted me to be a

vegetarian, then why did he make animals so tasty. " (That's a joke but what

relates here).

I'll have to really sit with this, and read it several times over; and permit

such to penetrate and resonate from my heart center.

Thank you Shrikant.

Love and Blessings.

Dear Danielle,

Why depend on the external objects? when one has everything within. How can  a

blind man enjoy sunrise or sunset ? how can a deaf enjoy music ? We should not

depend for joy or pleasure by being attached to external objects.

Some school of yoga ask a student to concentrate on external object such

as flowing river, beautiful flower etcThis is called Sabeeja samadhi, ie samadhi

with seed (river flower is seed ).In my opinion  during meditation too one

should try to concentrate within then only thoughtless condition will lead you

to dawning of spiritual light, this is called nirbeeja samadhi or state of

trance without concentrating on an external or internal

 object................shrikant

Hey Danielle,

" God walks also among the pots and pans " . This is one of St Teresa of Avila's

favourite sayings. She was very Kundalini active...

Beauty lies in all things, I think it is divine! And this beauty lies within our

struggles and growth as well. Divinity is in everything.

be well, bradly

Dear Danielle,

I agree with you that beauty is within and without.

I feel and experience that beauty is constant in this changeable world, that

yes, beauty permeates all.... all is beauty and beauty is all.

Danielle You know beauty, you express beauty, you are beauty, as are we all.

Many years ago I bought a picture of a lilly flower that had these words written

underneath, these words touched me then and stil do...

Beauty

Great indeed is the sublimity of the eternal.

to which all beings owe their begining

and which permeates all heaven.

When I went to the philosophy school the topic of beauty was one that brought

about much debate as folks defined what beauty actually was. I love reading

what Kahil gibran says about everything so I am quoting him again re beauty ,

he reflects the aspects of beauty that were discussed in the philosophy group I

attended, and how beauty is perceived in many ways.... I hope you enjoy this...

lots of love, Julia.

And a poet said, speak to us of Beauty.

and he answered:

Where shall you seek beauty, and how shall you find her unless she herself be

your way and your guide?

And how shall you speak of her except she be the weaver of your speech?

The aggrivated and the injured say. " Beauty is kind and gentle. Like a young

mother half shy of her own glory she walks among us "

And the passionate say " Nay, beauty is a thing of might and dread,

Like the tempest she shakes the earth beneath us and the sky above us "

The tired and the weary say " Beauty is of soft whisperings, she speaks in our

spirit

Her voice yields to our silence like a faint light that quivers in fear of the

shadow "

But the restless say " We have heard her shouting among the mountains

And with her cries came the sound of hoofs, and the beating of wings and the

roaring of lions "

At night the watchmen of the city say " Beauty shall rise with the dawn from the

east

And at noontide the toilers and the wayfarers say " We have seen her leaning

over the earth from the windows of the sunset "

In winter the snow-bound say " She shall come with the spring leaping upon the

hills "

And in the summer the reapers say " We have seen her dancing with the autumn

leaves, and we saw a drift of snow in her hair "

all these things you have said of beauty.

Yet in truth you spoke not of her but of needs unsatisfied.

And beauty is not a need but an ecstacy.

It is not a mouth thirsting nor and empty hand stretched forth,

But rather a heart inflamed and a soul enchanted.

It is not the image you would see not the song you would hear.

But rather an mage you see though you close your eyes and a song you hear though

you shut your ears.

It is not the sap within the furrowed, nor a wing attached to a claw,

But rather a garden forever in bloom and a flock of angels forever in flight.

People of Orphalese, beauty is life when life unveils her holy face.

But you are life and you are the veil.

Beauty is eternity gazing at itself in a mirror.

But you are eternity and you are the mirror.

hi Danielle, and Bruce and Julia and Shrikant, and all old and new,

forgive my injection to this very stimulating topic and posts of intrigue which

has my K running through me for necessary reasons of purification....so thank

you all for this pleasure :)

these are just my K thoughts typing as i open to myself to learn what so many

already `DO'.......so please forgive me.... O' K ?

im seeing beauty to be a heart or venus chakra topic....venus is tricky, as love

here is usually condition-all....unconditional love is rarely sustained as its

from highest portion of heart chakra

i realize how i see things depends on what chakra or mood that my consciousness

is mostly resonating with=part of my self activated or engaged within.

i as a human with form am as such will by egos throat adams apple chakra

projecting outwardly and engaged in sense stimulation within 4-D experience.

if i climb one chakra higher into the sun things become not as projected by ego,

but rather clarity of luminosity envelops vision thus see more clearly.....it is

as it is.

understanding thus `that' , IT(out there) is as it IS(in here)....ahambrahmasmi

principal.

the object(ive) of beauty is same as object of ugly= to THINK

but the beauty of beauty and the ugly of ugly is= to FEEL

all matter is made of blissfully vibrating bubbles of love, just feel that,

unify with that, which is all the same `thing' of everything, and harmonize in

support of its existence = DO

as swami nick wrote pre-autumnal-shaktipat, these three must be unified....else

we are not in spiritual consciousness, or are not bearing light or fruit or real

love, continually existent

by choice we must seek that which K shows to our awareness when she is not there

on the spot to whisper to us

any fall or rise, is to move away from the mean=middle-susumna-divine

consciousness-reality at its origin-all core

this is why i feel my problem has always been my thinking ! its not what i

think, its that thoughts interupt the deepest connections to reality, it steals

attention, thus i forget = ignorance = fall again.

be still my thoughts, let me re-member ! ....neti-neti-neti....return to rigpa,

original consciousness, stay on channel 0m, samadhi, sun chakra

this is what K helps me with most at this point in my life = she purges all of

my fiction=thoughts so i can more purely feel the inner `drums of the islands'

which beat in my heart.

following by FEELING `ones' bliss means much more than what one may `THINK' !

if one falls into anything, it should be the original feeling of life, the river

of giver.

Through K, we trust.

Thank you Bradly.

Yes, I experience this...though pots and pans are like tin cans and are

beautiful to me. It's the dull and flat which took my breath away and caused me

to say hey! It was truly a first time experience; it was like all things were

beyond being lifeless (because even those things dead still have a radiance

normally)...it was like what life would be like without the Divine presence (if

that is possible). If there is a hell, I think that would be it. It's been very

hard to place that into words. It was so much more than a contrast, it was a

" without " . And what a teaching!

I went to view an Ansel Adams exhibit at the art museum yesterday afternoon.

When I stood before a photograph of Aspens all aglow, tears pooled in my eyes

and big crocodile tears plopped on the floor. That was the Divine which I

experienced. Had I stood before this without any of my 5 senses, it is the

Divine which would have still been present; in me and in the trees, in the trees

and in me.

Divinity is in everything; isn't that just beautiful.

Love and thank you:
