The family will have dinner at Mom's.  I haven't decided what to take yet.

I always make a side dish from the files and everyone eats it right up and wants

the recipe.

We are having an extended family pot luck in the San Francisco Bay area. We are

bringing butternut squash ravioli, stuffed chayote squash (stuffed mirlitons)

and possibly pickled green beans. All the produce will be from our garden.

First year growing chayote, amazing plant!

I can't wait for Thanksgiving! We're going to have a Quorn Roast, my favorite

spinach-artichoke casserole, crock pot squash and apples, mashed potatoes,

cranberry sorbet and a variety of cranberry sauces and pies! We had an awesome

onion pie with dinner last year, too. That recipe came from here I think! I

might have to make that again also!

I've always felt that there should be a corn dish at Thanksgiving - but I've

never found a dish that really worked for us. I like recipes that are not too

complicated, beautiful and tasty. One year we tried fried corn, one year it was

a nasty creamy thing. Any TNT out there?

My mom loved jello salad (it was popular in the 50s and 60s), she passed away 15

years ago, my dad is still with us so I make one for him and actually my family

likes it too (I can live without it). I'm also making spaghetti squash (with a

few herbs), butternut squash, green bean casserole, there will be t**key but I'm

still deciding what else to bring (quorn/lentil loaf etc, I want it to be

something others will try).

My children were born in the first half of the 60's which is why they want the

Jello salad which I'm taking. My past experience tells me to take some dishes

that I can eat and that they will like. One of the will be Donna's which is in a

pie plate with avocado, sour cream, chives, etc. which I have to look for this

week.I made it Christmas and received raves. My other son is coming from MA with

his family and I'm sure they will like it too.
