You might try looking for weight and measure conversions on the internet.

There are several out there.

Then you can print it and have it handy.

Hope this helps.

Next Question - tomato sauce can sizes.

Can anyone tell what the size of a medium and a small can of tomato

sauce is ? Are they measuered by volume or weight ?

TIA,

Kim.

I think it was more about having the right measurements when Kim puts the recipe

in the files rather than a conversion issue.

A large can is generally 28 ounces. . .and a medium can is 12 1/2 ounces.

Tomato paste comes in small cans of 4 ounces. And of course there are

probably manufacturers that don't use any standard amount. Fortunately

tomato sauce isn't a food that requires a super-exact measurement in most

recipes. . .but still. . .a recipe that measures something by " a can " isn't

very specific or accurate! I hope this helps somewhat, Kim.

sauce " recipe here in the first place. . .)

Thanks LaDonna. Would they be fluid ounces ? I just need a rough

amount for those of us that can't buy 'tomato sauce' in cans (and

don't even have an exact equivalent) and have to sub.

These are the recipes :

Egyptian Tabilch

1 medium-large size zucchini

equal amount canned green beans

2 small cans tomato sauce**

------------

Dal Curry

2 cups lentils, stones picked out and boiled till soft

1 large yellow (brown) onions, chopped

1 bunch cilantro (coriander), washed well and chopped

1 large tomatoes

1 can coconut milk

1 can tomato sauce -- medium size**

Thanks,

Kim :)

Yes it is. Can measurements are often different in the US to

Australia, and of course different manufacturers have different

sizes. Then there's the fact that our tomato sauce is actually like

ketchup and comes in bottles. We don't actually have the exact

equivalent to the US tomato sauce (unless we go to a specialist US

food stockist). Gets a little confusing at times. :)
