Substitute for Apple Juice Concentrate

I recently learned that apple juice concentrate is considered a refined product.

What can one substitute for the concentrate when a recipe calls for it?

I know it's a concentrated sugar, but it's a natural sugar (when the

concentrate isn't a sweetened one, of course), so I still use it. I

I would think that you could make your own by reducing pressed apple cider.

I think technically all sweeteners are considered refined to soe exten

with the exception of fresh dates. I would think it would depend on

the recipe, but fresh dates are a great substitute for most

sweeteners, but they get tricky in baked goods.

I found it at the local HFS, and I really like it. I sub it for sugar in all

recipes (those needing sugar, that is).

My mil takes turbinado sugar in her coffee, and my sis started using the date

sugar in her coffee.

As for it's ingredients, only dates are listed, so I am guessing it is the sugar

from dried dates, plus the ground up dates. It has become a hard rock, due to

Florida's high humidity :(

date sugar is dehydrated and pulverized dates. it's very easy (and usually

cheaper) to make at home.

Put rice in the sugar bag - it will absorb some of the moisture.
