Does Cacao keep you awake?

I had read at rawfood.com that cacao was not a stimulant because it was raw,

and that it was the process of heating the bean that makes the caffeine

stimulating. However, I think I have noticed a pattern with my consuming

cacao in the evenings and staying up late and I a curious to know if anyone

else has experienced this? It could just be a coincidence, so before I avoid

cacao when I'm craving it, I'd like to do an informal survey amongs you all and

see if anyone has encountered this problem.

Thanks for your time!

Honestly, it does not make sense to me to say that

just because something is raw it can't be a stimulant.

I have never liked the way they seem way over the top

about their cacao pratically saying it's the perfect

health food or something. I have never had raw cacao,

but I have heard many other raw foodists say they do

not like the effect it has on them when they eat it.

If it's not a stimulant, there is still something in

it that affects people negatively.

Hi Denise.

Raw Cacao definitely keeps me up. If I use it as an ingredient I try to

limit the amount, especially if it's later than the morning when I eat it.

I can't have anything with caffeine in it past 6 p.m. or I am up for the whole

I had cacao yesterday and woke up three times in the night after staying up

late and got out of bed early. I'm sure I'm going to suffer all day today for

this mistake. Live and learn.
