Guest guest
OOOH>> SPeaking of cheap but healthy eating! I found a new used bookstore in my neighborhood, WWW.booksforamerica.org , it's a non profit org, with a good mission, so I can feel good about my book addiction... PLUS>> I found this book for $2, and immediately thought of this group.. I haven't read it yet (got it last night) but in case anyone wants to look for it at the library.. Simple Food for the Good LIfe and alternative cookbook with a collection of EASY RECIPES that have evolved from necessity or available garden produce (this is my favorite part...) intended for the use of people of moderate fortune who do not affect magnificence in their style of living by THAT FRUGAL HOUSEWIFE Helen Nearing. also.. the first thing the author says in her opening message to the reader is a a mention of why she uses so many quotes.. (PT< I Hope you see this! LOL! And Bron too.. and all you other fellow lovers of words!!!) " There are some people who read too much: the bibliobibuli. I know some who are constantly drunk on books, as other men are drunk on religion. " ~ H.L. Mencken That frugal housewife goes on to say " I am a library inebriate; I get drunk on pithy quotations. If someone else has said it better, and earlier, why not make these sources available to you, gentle reader? Why not use their choice expressions instead of my own bald words? I make no further excuses for sharing with you myprized collection of other authors' works, which I haev lapped up avidly and found so delicious. " needless to say I can't wait to dive into this book! =) Jenni
