Janey --

Your best bet is to check out one of those specialty

stores that sells cool kitchen gadgets -- don't know

where you live but like Lechters or Williams-Sonoma --

and get yourself an olive oil atomizer. You fill it

will olive oil (my apologies for the banal

explanation) and then you pull the little

trigger-thingee and it emits a fine spray of oil and

air -- nothing but oil and air unlike the supermarket

sprays that have rubbing alcohol and other

unappetizing ingredients in them.

Hope that was helpful :)

I'm not following a rawfood diet anymore, but I have shared this with

everyone. Its no secret.

As to the spray oil, I haven't used any yet. I was just asking if any were

vegan. But as Fraggle pointed out apparently they aren't even healthy, so I

am happy for my enquiries to end there. I'll just stick to good old healthy

olive oil! :-)

But I don't drink alcohol so I am good in that sense. :-)

Thanks Jojo, that's the sort of thing I am after so I'll have a look on the

weekend. I hadn't got as far as reading any spray bottles, as I wanted to

make sure they were vegan first. I don't want anything with crap

ingredients like alcohol in so I appreciate the advice. Although I'm not a

rawfoodie anymore, I still do like to eat a healthy diet.

Thanks! :-)

My best friend bought me a pump for my birthday. You put oil in, pump

it up, and it sprays the oil out. I put in cold-pressed olive oil.

i don't think he meant it that way

he is referring to the alcohol catching on fire when it hits the pan...

I'm sorry - I don't know. I bought a glass bottle with a spray in it from Culpeper and filled it with about two thirds water one third extra virgin olive oil, and use that as a cooking spray.

yup..

a lot of spray oils list alcohol...probably either to help carry the oils out of

the sprayer, and/or to keep the nozzle clear

Me, silly?

I didn't know alcohol was in spray oils - my initial question was whether

they were vegan. I hadn't got as far as looking at the ingredients!

My comment about alcohol was directed at you Graham - saying that I'm

healthy in that I don't drink alcohol 'cos you said that when people fall

from a fruitarian diet they *fall hard*. I just thought *well, at least I

don't drink*! :-)

Cheers!

But it's the alcohol that counteracts the bad effects of the other stuff. Especially taken in large quantities - you'll find it can get rid of most of what you've imbibed earlier.

Actually, I've got some Fry Light that I bought last year & haven't got around to using yet (gonna try it with the muck dock...) and it says "suitable for vegetarians". Ingredients are sunflower oil (58%), water, grain alcohol, emulsifier: lecithin, antioxidant: vitamin e. Couldn't tell you if it works tho. Prob better to stick to olive oil, perhaps in a spray like jojo suggested.

I would imagine it evaporates before it does...I'm

pretty sure that's one of the things they put in it,

but I could be wrong...it's happened before -- at

least, I think it has...
