Guest guest
I noticed this week that Morningstar Farms [Kellogg's] has Vegan Grillers now; our local Walmart seems to have replaced their original grillers with these. My 11 year old reports they are as good as the original; I think they need a bit more attention in cooking, rather than just warming them in the microwave. How much do people pay for these kinds of meat substitutes? The Walmart price is $2.43. Across the street at Winn Dixie, which is now going out of business, the marked price is $3.99, marked down 30% from that. A HFS in a nearby city charges around $3.50. When the Winn Dixie's previous incarnation as Jitney Jungle was going out of business, they marked down the griller group of products to less than $1. The little old ladies who were there for the other bargains helped me fill up my buggy with all the Morningstar items. It was a shopping frenzy with a little crowd of folks following the mark-down man. Nobody else wanted the meat substitutes. .... Be kind. Be of good cheer. Guest guest
I am in shock that a product would say vegan and have meat in it. What product is it? I always read the labels, just to be sure, but have never encountered this. , MIAYETA WALKER <miayeta1968> wrote: > DEAR FELLOW VEGANS,IT IS SUCH A BLESSING TO HEAR THE WONDERFUL VEGAN ENCOUNTERS THAT OTHER VEGANS HAVE, AND I JUST WANTED TO SHARE MY EXPERIENCE WITH MORNING STAR FARMS.WE AS VEGANS HAVE TO BE CAREFUL OF THE " SO CALLED VEGAN PRODUCTS " SOME WILL SAY VEGAN,BUT THEY ACTUALLY CONTAIN MEAT PRODUCTS.I WOULD ENCOURAGE ALL THE VEGANS TO READ THE INGREDIENTS ON THE MORNING STAR GRILLERS AND OTHER " SO CALLED VEGAN PRODUCTS " .LOOK AT INGREDIENTS ON ALL PRODUCTS YOU WILL BE SHOCKED AT SOME OF THE INGREDIENTS,LIKE EGG WHITES,ETC...THE ONES THAT ARE VEGANS AND NOT JUST VEGETARIANS WHICH DO EAT SOME ANIMAL PRODUCTS THIS WOULD BE HEARTBREAKING LIKE IT WAS FOR ME.BE A READER ,DON'T GET CAUGHT OFF GUARD.BE ENCOURAGED MIAYETA. Guest guest
The 'New' Morningstar Vegan Grillers are really their previous product called Better'n Burgers. They are not the same as the original Grillers which had/have egg. These are vegan. http://www.kelloggs.com/cgi-bin/brandpages/product.pl?product=315 & company=23 Kelloggs lists their vegan Griller products here: http://www.kelloggs.com/brand/msfarms/health_nutrition/vegan.shtml Those of you wanting a vegan option, look for Morningstar Farms® delicious products for your lifestyle. Morningstar Farms® Grillers® Vegan -The Original Better 'n Burger® formerly known as Morningstar Farms® Better 'n Burger is a great vegan option. Historical sidebar trivia: In the late 1800's the original Kellogg was a health food fanatic; he donated money to health food causes, one of which started the Adventist church. A few years later he had a falling out with the founders of the Adventists. Adventists went on to develop vegetarian, if not always vegan or healthy, foods like Little Debbie/Sunbelt/Sovex, Loma Linda, and Worthington/Morningstar. Recently Kellogg the corporation has been buying up the little vegetarian brands. The Little Debbie founder is no longer alive, although Debbie herself is an executive, and they are no longer consistently vegetarian. .... Be kind. Be of good cheer.
