meat substitutes

Hi all,

Last summer while at the Amana Colonies, I picked up a package of

something called Beef NOT! and Chicken NOT! They are dehydrated soy

based meat substitutes.

There was a website address to order more on the package and when I

went to it found that they have a large selection of meat

replacements. I ordered some ground beef NOT! and some diced chicken

NOT! that came with some broth. Both of them were as good as the

nuggets I had gotten earlier.

The best thing about them are my son (who NEEDS MEAT! lol) cant tell

the difference. *grin* I made spaghetti with the ground beef stuff and

he had to ask me whether it was real meat or fake. You see, I keep a

package or two of real meat in the freezer for him to cook for himself

on the nights Im not home. This is just another way to keep him

guessing lol.

I was thinking, with all the people having issues with parties and

family gatherings, using something like this would make them non

issues. Ive made things with these products and served it to company

and no one even questions the ingredients.

They also sent me a catalogue with my order that has tons of stuff in

it. Its also actually cheaper than buying real meat. A pound of their

meatless stuff when rehydrated comes to 3 pounds.
