I made sure I got every blood panel for the past 10 years... wanting to watch my sugars and compare to see if things went up or down or whatever... It is very interesting to pay attention to this... now just wished I could get one done since I ahve been eating better and being 90% raw. Surely somethings have gotten better... I still wonder.. without going to the dr. if what I am doing is right... if it shows anywhere... somedays i feel wonderful and think i am looking better in the mirror... but then other days.. seems i am back where I started.. I do catch myself tho that on some of those days my diet wasn't the best... I gotta get back to work to get the cahs to do more things regarding keeping the right foods all the time in the house and having ins so i can keep a check on this... _____ Debbie, I so empathize with your feelings. I, too, have traveled through extended periods of time where I wondered what progress I was really making, or whether I could ever " really do this, " etc. At times I have felt alone, hopeless, frustrated, impatient, and so on. I have found that my greatest gains came from my own internal work, learning to feel and process my feelings, gaining clarity about 1000 things -- my beliefs, values, intentions, goals, learning acceptance and especially self-acceptance. Helping others with such things is now a central theme of my life, my ministry. I have also found that the support, even not support, but contact, connection, playfulness, is very helpful. I find that choosing people, friends and associates, who are supportive or at least accepting, is helpful. I did change much of my circle of, well, just about everyone over the last several years. There is much more, for me and I imagine for everyone in this group. These are just a few thoughts that come to mind. I encourage you to notice small things, little details about yourself. Look at the color and " energy " in your eyes, notice how your nails are growing. Notice where your body " crack " more or less frequently, where your joints move a bit more smoothly. Notice how foods taste differently over time, how your mouth responds to different textures, even to the same food as you are eating it. Notice your sleep patterns, your needs for rest during the day, your energy ebb and flow. Really begin to notice yourself in every way imaginable, and then some. Regarding the blood chemistries, please keep in mind that these are always snapshots. If I draw your blood, then you encounter a stressful experience and I draw your blood again, I'm going to get at least somewhat different results. If you've eaten fruit for 6 months I'm going to get different results than if you've eaten pizza. And particularly with blood sugar, I'm going to get different results throughout the day. A 24-hour monitor would provide much more useful information than any isolated blood test. But I'll stop, so as not to open the topic of medical fallacies.
