[Raw Food] vita mix

Hi all. I just got my new, (used) vitamix and made my first smoothie of

celry pears and parsely. I din't like it much, plus there were bits of

celery string in it. I need some ideas for good green smoothies. I'm

thinking maybe I should start with less greens and build up as I didn't like

it too much. Thanks all. Meanwhile I'll try the apple sauce recipe today,

apples and dates , and report back. Lane

_____

Parsley, kale, and all the harsher greens have very strong, bitter tastes.

Try using tender greens such as leaf lettuce or romaine instead, and play

with the quantity.

Also, please note that you are using two strong greens in one drink, in

terms of taste you may indeed not enjoy. Try just the pears and the celery

or just the pears and the leafy greens, play with the quantities. The only

way you can determine what you like is by working with the simplest

combinations first. Your system will appreciate you for doing this!!

Regarding the celery, you need to let the blender run longer, it will cream

the celery quite nicely. If you are concerned about temperature, drop 1-2

ice cubes in before you begin blending, just enough to hold the temperature,

not enough to chill the drink. The Vita-Mix will process the celery fine.

Remember to chew your smoothie!

Best to all,

Elchanan
