Thanks, Lane _____ I typically break or cut the stalks into 3-4 segments, because I find it easier to put them into the blender that way. (It is not " necessary, " as far as I can tell.) I also try and put the softer, wetter ingredients in first -- bananas, dates, etc., but frankly I sometimes forget and it still works out fine. The only times I've ever had a " problem " were either when I stuff so much celery in sideways that it didn't fall to the bottom when I turned on the Vita-Mix, or when I got a tiny piece of leaf or stalk caught in the lid. But I consider these both " user errors, " not " celery design errors.
