For all of you folks who live close enough to NYC, you've GOT to try

Quintessence!

Hubby (carnivore extraordinaire) and I spent the weekend in NYC to

celebrate our anniversary, so I wanted to try " Q " ... IT WAS WONDERFUL.

And amazingly enough, Bob liked it too.

We tried two sampler platters, and came away loving the Brazil Nut

Loaf (very filling and satisfying) and the Nachos (sp?) as our top two

choices. Their falafel with hummus was a close second. We thought

the Japanese sea vegetable cakes were so-so, but I guess it's an

acquired taste. We tried the coconut pie and mudslide pie for

desserts, and both were good, but we thought they could have used a

little more denseness and sweetness.

AND FOR YOU BROADWAY BUFFS.... we saw SPAMALOT this weekend, which is

Eric Idle's musical version of MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL. For

those of you between the ages of 40 and 55.... you'll giggle and

guffaw. Tim Curry was King Arthur, Hank Azaria was Lancelot (and some

other characters) and David Hyde Pierce was Sir Robin (and others).

The Lady of the Lake has a voice that would knock you dead. Also,

another prominent menber of the cast who plays " not dead Fred " and

Prince Herbert .... is none other than the kid who plays the singing

store clerk on the eBay commercial. He's super talented, has a great

voice, and will have you giggling from the beginning of the first act.

Yes, the Black Night manages to get all of his limbs hacked off in

this production in a totally tasteful way, and the nights that go " Ni "

still ask for that shrubbery. Expect a very, very silly musical done

lovingly.

Yes, I AM trying to make you jealous! ; )

We had a great weekend. We even walked " The Gates " in Central Park.

Peace to all.
