Hey - I hate to make people repeat themselves, but could someone tell

me about using vinegar and baking soda for laundry detergent? I'd

love to try it. Do you use both?

Kadee, we also have a pet rat whom we all adore, but mostly my three

year old. She is absolutely in love with him.

be three next month (sob!!) and Jeffery Jr., who is 1 1/2. They've

been vegetarian all their lives, and it's so nice to let them love

all the animals to the greatest extent they can without one learning

that that animal is what they have on their dinner plates. My

daughter especially loves animals. She spent nearly an hour in our

rat room earlier this evening and fed them nearly a whole bag of

papaya treats! Guess we'll have to buy more. :) I hope this list is

good for you- This is where I learned about using baking soda and

vinegar instead of laundry detergent. :)

I forgot the amounts I was told to put in, but I just shake in a little baking

soda, I don't even know how much, and a little less than 1/2 c. vinegar for a

large load. Works great, I'll never have to buy laundry detergent again!

Wahoo, another rat person!! :) I'll never be without rats now that I've had

them... they're the perfect pet.

Hi and welcome!

Are you a new vegan?

If yes, maybe it could be useful for you (and for others!) : http://www.peta.org/accidentallyVegan/.

It'a a list of (accidental!) vegan food that we can find in almost all groceries.

I was so happy to discover in this list that Oreos and Fritos are vegan :)

Hi.. I am a member of vegitarian group.

As ,Mr John Kelly has said that after avoiding to eat meat in meal ,his

diabetise has reduced, I also think that, veg food will give us very advantages.

Mainly, I am 'HINDU BRAHMIN'. So,basically,in our relision,we don't eat

nonveg.Also ,I don't like to beat animals & eat them. I think,Its very horrible

act. I am thankful of your Vegitarian group to give apportunity to understand

I am not sure where your information is coming from but eating meat has

absolutely no effect on a person's blood glucose levels as it is a protein.

Carbohydrates are what effect blood glucose.....simple carbs like sugars, white

flour, potatoes, white rice, etc. will cause sharp rises in blood glucose, and

while complex carbohydrates like whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables also

affect blood glucose, they contain fiber and so don't affect it, eaten in the

right portions, as negatively as simple carbohydrates do. But, as I

said.....eating or not eating meat will not affect blood glucose levels but if

eaten in large amounts can affect a diabetics kidneys negatively.

Welcome, Joan and congrats on your decision to consider a meat-free lifestyle.

Yes, generally vegetarians and vegans are happy and can loose weight on a

animal-free diet-as long as you don't indulge in alot of junk food, of course.

Also I'd like to just say that if you're diabetic you may want to consider

cutting out dairy as well, as this can contribute to the disease as well, as I

know it is a primary cause of Type 1 onset diabetes in children.
