Guest guest
Hi Pam and the group... Those of us into serious dehydrating have found that the Cabela's commercial units are better than any of the others that we've tested for serious raw dehydrated foods, crackers, etc. And we've tried bunch of the ones being made and ended up evolving into the Cabela units. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/pod/horizontal-pod.jsp? rid= & indexId=cat570005 & navAction=push & navCount=2 & cmCat=srchdx & parentType=ind ex & parentId=cat570005 & id=0019202 Yeaow, if that long link doesnt connect, go to www.cabelas.com and follow this sequence... Gifts and Furnishings > Kitchen > Dehydrators> Cabelas Commercial Dehydrators (skip the Excalliber & circular units) I do have a convection oven (which I seldom use) and it is doubtful that a single or double shelf would do a very sustainable and green job of dehydrating and the power consumption off that fan along with the heat might be excessive?? Would for sure need to get way more input before buying another stove. And yes convection is WAY better than conventional stove and million times better than microwave as I've come to understand more about nutrition. Have the sales person " SHOW YOU " . Like take in some fruit pate, some flax cracker mix and some mixed veggies to test out. Give it the true test rather than what the person says... Thats my 2 cents worth, enjoy, St: Message: 3 Tue, 31 Jan 2006 22:33:50 -0000 " smithonwoodscreek " <smithonwoodscreek Dehydrating with a convection oven To my astonishment when I went to replace my burned up oven, I was told that I could replace it with a Whirlpool convection oven that I can use as a food dehydrator. If anyone has any first hand knowledge, information, or a source of information on how convection ovens perform as dehydrators that they would be willing to share, I would be ever grateful. Thanks, Pam
