You could almost certainly get one from somewhere like e-bay, but I should

imagine it would be fairly expensive! I gather old Star Wars figures can

fetch quite a bit nowadays.

I remember him showing me a few, along with his Millenium Falcon :-)

Let's be honest here - Uhura was there as a sex symbol. Her involvement was hardly as a "position of power". And, incidentally, the concepts of women in positions of power was done frequently in Dr Who, dating back at least as early as 1964.

depends

the market fer em peaked in the early 90's.....

and the whole toy action figure market took a nosedive

still worth something..but, don't carry the enormous price tags they did once

fair enough i guess..considering they are just hunks of refined petroleum

I would think that all of the older toys would definately be worth

some good cash now. Especially if they are in good condition.

If it is something he really does want tho, I would probably look to

buying him the newer ones for his birthday or something.

Yes, that's right. He was quite eager to show you around. And then

of course talk you into playing. :)

But that still does not take away from the fact that he was lucky to

only have one! :)

Perhaps his tribble had already gone through " the change " ;)

Actually it was 1966 when it first started. Not the early seventies, it was all over by 1970.Uhura was a Lieutenant, and yes she was very attractive. Dr Who sidekicks as I remember were usually not the brighest, or given any positions of power? something kept up by Billie Pipers charector., and you may call them companions, but they are just sidekicks. Lets not make this a Star Trek vs Dr Who thingy as I loved them both, and am begining to sound like an anorak. I just have different views to yourself. Uhura was realistically a switchboard operator - that was all that she did! Regardless of rank.

I wasn't talking about sidekicks - I was talking about the female officers in stories like The Sensorites (1964), Galaxy Four (1965), The Daleks' Masterplan (1966) all before Star Trek, and all strong, female characters, there for the storyline as people, not as sexy women to keep men interested in watching!

Hi Fraggle

I bet with the amount of stuff you have, you could make something

off of it. But that is only if you want to get rid of it all.

Regardless of rank?, that was the whole point, she outranked half the bridge crew, and yes there were strong women charectors in the series. I doubt whether the early sixties, that the BBC could have gotten away with the kind of outfits that the women in Star Trek wore, otherwise they just might have. Unfortunately I dont have the kind of encyclopaedeac memory that you seem to have ( I was only 4 or 5 or 6 when those episodes were on! ), and I cant say that they have been repeated recently ( unless I missed them ) - who was the doctor then ? Patrick Troughton? The Valley Vegan............ Hi Peter >Actually it was 1966 when it first

Of course, it might have been that Dr Who was produced by a woman, who may well have found the objectifying of women slightly more offensive than the male producers of Star Trek!

I am a bit of a Dr Who anorak, and have the whole collection either in audio or video... it was way back in William Hartnell's days, although there were equally strong female characters throughout Patrick Troughton's era as well...

Hi Fraggle

Well since you have to go through it a bit for the move, perhaps at

the new place you can put it all together in one pile and then start

slowly after everything else is all unpacked.

i think my main problem after we move, is trying to find a place fer it all!!

the new place doesn't have an attic

:(

gonna have to get a large shed and lock em in there..i guess...

maybe i'll just abandon them all and give it all away...

who knows....
