Oh, and that spinach, romaine and endive tossed with slivers of carrots, red onion, celery, broccoli flowerettes and fresh cooked asparagus tossed with balsamic, red wine vinegar, spices and EVOO are the salad of choice tonight? Guest guest
There's no ingredients on the store baked breads here. You can ask the person who cooks it though. Guest guest
Oh, I know the answer to that one. I have a friend who is a Buddhist. There are two theories. One is an old fable about a monk being tricked about meat in a dish and he threw it out and the next morning garlic and an onion were growing where the meat was. The other is that they are supposed to encourage lust. Guest guest
Some sects of Hinduism/ and Jains others use Aesofetida in place of onions and garlic in their cooking on religious grounds. It is a very strong ( not very nice ) smelling powder, but does the same thing to flavours as onions and garlic. Certain sects in India, such as Jains and Hindu Brahmins, are forbidden to eat onion-related plants like garlic. The reasons differ in each case. Jains consider use of garlic to be too damaging to the plant, while some Hindus consider garlic too stimulating. Guest guest
My herbalist considers using herbs that are used for medicine in your cooking to be the same as using antibiotics for every little sniffle -- when you really need them they no longer work because you've used them for so long.
