We just got back from the Bloodstock heavy metal weekend in Derby. Had a

really good time :-)

The journey back took 5 hours ! for 164 miles, most of them on the

motorways. It was stop/start all the way home, and the weather was so hot!

Now to read the list emails ....

LOL! Sounds like you are always busy at the weekend. I wouldn't mind a

heavy metal weekend every weekend :-) I do have another concert next week

though.

Have you watched the fly overs? I found it interesting that a high rise

standing next to a church survived and the church didn't. A casino lost

part of the actual casino but their motel survived and the church on the

next block didn't. I noticed that WallyWorld survived and the church behind

them didn't.

Hmmmmm put a lie to Radical Religious Right's little rants wouldn't you

say??!!

They were good. First night was Viking Metal Night (lots of Vikings

in the audience :-))- Metalium, Storm Warrior, who did a set with Kai

Hansen (ex-Helloween vocalist) and Hammerfall. All very good. The

second day there were loads of bands - we saw Iron Saviour, good

mainstream metal - Raven - bad mainstream metal (the only 'not'good'

band we saw),Bob Catley (Magnum vocalist) doing an acoustic set,

After Forever (brilliant - not heard them before), Amon Amarth (also

brilliant) and Within Temptation. We also saw Cathedral on the

second stage.

I'm now adding After Forever, Amon Amarth and Iron Saviour cds to my

Yule list.

Hi Lynda

That's strange! In Boscastle in Cornwall last year the house before the

Witchcraft Museum, and the Christian shop were washed away, but the museum

stayed intact.

Sounds like you had a good time, I am thinking of going to see The Misfits, but dont know how good they are now ( must 110 years old by now!). I wish I had been to Reading and Leeds this year, some great bands at the Lock Up stage ( Rise Against / Anti Flag / Hatebreed / Bad Religion and many more).

Hope you didnt bang your head too much, time to put that air guitar to bed eh?

I did have a good time thanks. I like Bad Religion, and Hatebreed, but don't know the other bands you mention. Maybe there will be some good bands at those festivals next year. I have heard that the Misfits are still as good as ever.

Where'd you go on the Russian River? I always loved the Pub. Of course

that could be because the bartender had her own private stock of water

smooth tequila that she shared with me <g>

The winery that has a Greek restaurant used to have some vegan dishes. The

kidlet loved it! Even DH enjoyed a couple of the dishes.

brewpubs?

stumptown in guerneville(actually..it might actually be just over the border in

rio nido..but...)

didn't eat there..just sat on the back patio and watched the kids frolic in the

river....

alas, they don't allow dogs inside stumptown anymore, as they expanded their

restaurant...state laws and all that

so, thats why the kids got to play in the river...

went to rainbow cattle co in guerneville as welll...(no, its not a nasty meat

place)...place hasn't changed at all..while everything is guerneville seems to

get more touristy every year

had din din at moylans brewing in novato...our waitress was veggie.....

but..just had salad.....

Cash now at a premium this week, as my 15 year old cat just pushed me into the red, having cost me 270 quid at the vets.............its turning out to be a very shity week............

They were good. First night was Viking Metal Night (lots of Vikings in the audience :-))- Metalium, Storm Warrior, who did a set with Kai Hansen (ex-Helloween vocalist) and Hammerfall. All very good. The second day there were loads of bands - we saw Iron Saviour, good mainstream metal - Raven - bad mainstream metal (the only 'not'good' band we saw),Bob Catley (Magnum vocalist) doing an acoustic set, After Forever (brilliant - not heard them before), Amon Amarth (also brilliant) and Within Temptation. We also saw Cathedral on the second stage.I'm now adding After Forever, Amon Amarth and Iron Saviour cds to my Yule list.Jo , peter hurd wrote:> Any of the bands any good? cant say Ive heard of any of them.> > The Valley Vegan........> > Jo Cwazy

What's wrong with you old cat Peter?

Our lovely little budgie cost us a lot the last year of his life about £850 pounds in all, but you cannot leave them untended.
