Guest guest
Hello everybody, I am curious as to what other people in this group are doing for Halloween. Do you give edibles out to trick or treating kids? If so, what? Any celebration foods you bring to or offer at Halloween-themed parties? I live with my mother, who insists upon handing out MandMs to children, but I'm adding some fresh organic pecans-in-the-shell to the mix. Most parents in my neighborhood won't let their kids accept not-hermetically-sealed treats so unfortunately most fruits or raw prepared treats are out of the question. And I will be offering several raw " celebration foods " at our party tomorrow, such as a raw pumpkin pie, some spiced dehydrated pumkin seeds, some pumpkin nog (based upon pumpkin juice), and a warming spicy cacao drink based upon carrot juice. Several of these recipes are on my www.goneraw.com profile if you're looking for some inspiration: http://www.goneraw.com/account/show/134 Otherwise, I'm enjoying using wheat flour for its real purpose: glue! I'm making paper maché masks! Happy halloween! -Storm

Hi Storm, Jane posted this link back in September: http://greenhalloween.org/content.php?page=treats Halloween isn't really big over here in Australia, though the chain stores are jumping on it re costumes and candy, so we'll probably just celebrate in our own way. Incidentally, as it's spring, the current holiday is Beltane, on Nov1 (tomorrow). Though it feels like midsummer, lately... Were I prepared, and society in sync with the seasons rather than the money, I'd probably hand out something crafted, rather than something to eat.
