Guest guest Report post Posted October 31, 2006 Mm, your lunch sounds yummy! My brother should have been a vegan; he despised cheese ever since he was little. Samhain is a pagan holiday; the New Year. It's the time of year to honor those who have passed away during the year and welcome new babies that have been born. It's also the time of the year to reflect on what you've harvested in your life over the past year and what you hope to bring into your life during the next one. There was no ill intent behind my statement; if you don't celebrate or take part in fall holiday celebrations, just disregard my well wishes! :-) Cindi Laura <lpiwowarski wrote: Cindi wrote: > > > > And happy Samhain/Halloween to you all! > Cindi > We are having no cheese pizza on whole wheat crust and cabbage soup. Guest guest Report post Posted November 1, 2006 That sounds good Cindi. I’m out of food right now so I’m going to check out the recipes to see what look good to me today. I cant remember to soak my beans at night. Can’t I just put then to soak now? I shouldn’t matter what 8 hours they soak right? Cindi <cindi93069 wrote: Hey everyone ~ The list has gotten awful quiet lately! Let's talk about what we're having for lunch today. I brought some leftover Harvest Chili we made last night. It has butternut squash, carrot, bell pepper, onion, black beans, pinto beans, crushed tomatoes, green chiles, cumin & chili powder. It was really yummy and a good meal last night as the weather has cooled down considerably where I am. What yummy things are you all having? And happy Samhain/Halloween to you all! Guest guest Report post Posted November 1, 2006 I hadn't either Zen. It gave it a nice color and added some different texture to it. The recipe called for just a cup so it wasn't overloaded with squash. I can post the recipe tonight if you'd like. Cindi zen white <zenbaby7 wrote: I never heard of Chili made with squash, . Guest guest Report post Posted November 1, 2006 Nope, shouldn't matter I would think, day or night! For this chili we cheated and used canned beans. We tend not to think ahead very well either! Guest guest Report post Posted November 2, 2006 Hi Zen ~ Yes, it calls for butternut squash or pumpkin. I totally spaced it last night and forgot to post the recipe. I'll send it tonight for sure. The worst part is that it's already in my computer at home, I just need to cut & paste it to the group! Cindi zen white <zenbaby7 wrote: That would be great Cindi. Do you thing pumpkin would work? . Guest guest Report post Posted November 2, 2006 Yep, we do. I would imagine those that don't eat eggs & dairy would be close to being vegan. Guest guest Report post Posted November 2, 2006 Zen asked, " Do some vegetarians eat eggs and dairy? Like a Lacto-Ovo vegetarians or something like that? " Yes, ovo vegetarians consume eggs. Lacto vegetarians have dairy. Ovo-lacto vegetarians eat both. Vegans and 100% dietary vegetarians don't have eggs or dairy. Vegans generally adopt other life-style changes not limited to food, like avoiding leather, silk and wool, not killing insects, etc. I just added a document to our group files, under Files <> > Vegetarian and Vegan Info: Vegetarianism <http://f1.grp.fs.com/v1/cHhKRQOGHY_-_7l-NuWog5Lm2ksb4XxKUibS3BRC-KnNO0 EmFUNXobHlAZDAc4bakxGPkGpzhsEkL41Vrjsl/Vegetarian%20and%20Vegan%20Info/Veget arianism%20Defined> Defined. ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ from Maida Citizens for Pets in Condos, Inc. www.petsincondos.org - a Florida non-profit corporation South Florida Vegetarian Events www.soflavegevents.net Discovery Toys Educational Consultant <http://www.discoverytoyslink.com/GrandmaM> http://www.discoverytoyslink.com/GrandmaM <http://www.vistaprint.com/vp/gateway.aspx?S=5176697856>

Guest guest Report post Posted January 11, 2007 I'm pretty boring today. Lunch will be cottage cheese, grapes, and 3 graham crackers. I like what you're having much better! Dinner will be better. Guest guest Report post Posted January 13, 2007 Stuffed peppers are a good way to use up some vegetables in the house. I use just like round, or whatever the equivalent is for soy based imitation ground hamburger, brown rice, onions, and salsa. Season with garlic, oregano, whatever spices I happen to grab. Sometimes top it with parmesan cheese, but not right now while we're more intent on weight loss. My husband was making them last night and he's a bit more adventurous than me. He was chopping up fresh mushrooms and a tomato for stuffing. He'll also put in a few chopped nuts like slivered almonds, but I don't really like it when he adds the nuts. Not saying I don't like nuts, just not as pepper stuffing! Cheryl , Cindi <cindi93069 wrote: > > Yummy, I like stuffed peppers.
